CINCINNATI — Leo Cardenas was part of the history made at Crosley Field. Now, he’s going to share that history.
Cardenas will be the featured speaker at the “Bobblehead Luncheon” to benefit the Cincinnati Reds’ Hall of Fame Crosley Field Remembered Project and the City Gospel Mission.
The luncheon will be from 12:30-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the City Gospel Mission, 1805 Dalton Avenue in Cincinnati.
The Mission is at the former site of Crosley Field.
Cardenas is a member of the Reds’ Hall of Fame and regularly attends RedsFest.
Cardenas will take questions, tell stories, and tour the Crosley Field site with attendees.
Tickets are $39 per person, and include a specially prepared menu and an autographed Leo Cardenas bobblehead, as well as the opportunity to meet Cardenas and take photos.
A Gold Glove winner in 1965, Cardenas twice led National League shortstops in fielding percentage. Nicknamed “Mr. Automatic,” he played for the Reds from 1960 through the 1968 season.
Cardenas earned a reputation as a stellar defensive shortstop. He was also a five-time All-Star, including four appearances for the Reds.
This is the first event in an exclusive luncheon series featuring Reds Hall of Fame players who will be honored with a bobblehead by the museum this summer.
Future speakers include Tommy Helms, Ron Oester, Dave Parker and George Foster.
The series benefits the Reds Hall of Fame’s Crosley Remembered Project and the City Gospel Mission.
Please contact Tyler Renfro at the Reds Hall of Fame at trenfro@reds.com or (513) 765-7929 for more information or to purchase tickets.
The luncheon menu includes: Chicken Parmesan, Risotto, Buttered Green Beans, Salad, Decadent Brownies. Water and Tea are also available.
