PEDRO — Cody Lewis wasn’t giving up many hits, but his Rock Hill teammates were getting more than was needed.
Lewis pitched a two-hitter and the Redmen banged out 13 hits as they blanked the South Point Pointers 15-0 in a five-inning Ohio Valley Conference game on Wednesday.
Lewis struck out five and walked just one in getting the win.
“We hit the ball hard all night. Even our outs were hard,” said Redmen coach Barry Litteral.
“Lewis pitched a really good game and he only threw about 60 pitches.”
Logan Wade doubled in the first and Max Tabor singled in the fifth for the only South Point hits.
Kyle Stanfield was 3-3 with two doubles and Seth Nichols 3-3 with a double and two runs batted in to lead the offense.
Mason Darby was 2-3 with a home run and Logan Hankins was 2-2.
After a scoreless first inning, Rock Hill scored five runs in the second.
Landon Smith walked and Stanfield and Nichols doubled and it was 2-0.
Darby was safe on an error, Jake Blagg reached on a missed third strike, and Lewis and Hankins singled.
The Redmen (3-1, 1-1) came back with six runs in the third inning for an 11-0 lead.
Smith was safe on an error and Stanfield, Nichols, Darby and Blagg all singled. Lewis was hit by a pitch, Hankins singled, Kaleb Kidd walked and Smith hit a sacrifice fly.
Nichols singled and Darby belted a two-run homer to start the fourth inning.
Blagg was safe on an error, Hankins walked, Gavin Jenkins singled for a run and Stanfield doubled in a run.
The Pointers fell to 6-2 and 1-1.
On Friday, Rock Hill hosts Fairland and South Point visits Portsmouth.
