Panthers bang out 15-0 win

AID — The big three came up big.
The top three hitters in the Chesapeake Panthers’ lineup combined for six hits in a 15-0 five-inning win over the Symmes Valley Vikings on Monday.
Casey McComas was 2-3 with a grand slam home run, two runs scored and two stolen bases. Dalton Nida was 2-4 with two runs batted in and Evan Burcham was 2-2 and two runs scored.
“The top three guys in our lineup performed well for us. But we got hits throughout the lineup,” said Panthers’ coach Justin Davis.
Chesapeake (2-0) combined 12 hits with nine walks and two hit batters to generated their offense.
The game was scoreless until the third when Chesapeake erupted for 13 runs highlighted by McComas’ grand slam homer.
Bretton Martin — the second of three pitchers — got the win as he struck out three, walked two and gave up the lone Vikings’  hit in three innings of work.
McComas went two innings and struck out six and walked a batter. Burcham pitched the fifth inning and struck out two while walking one.
Payton Hayes had the lone hit for the Vikings (2-1).
Chesapeake is at Huntington, W.Va., on Thursday. Symmes Valley hosts St. Joseph on Tuesday.
