Council to weigh costs
SOUTH POINT — Plans for a spray park in South Point were tabled by the village council at Tuesday night’s meeting.
Mayor Jeff Gaskin said the council is holding off on action until the cost can be determined.
“We want to make sure we can afford it,” Gaskin said.
He said the village has a budget of about $50,000 for the park. The grant funds allotted for construction must be used by the end of 2017.
“We’re hoping we can get wet this year,” he said.
In other news, Gaskin said painting of the village’s water tanks is set to begin soon.
“They finished power washing and are doing primer work,” he said.
He said an inspection of the village’s 60-year-old tank revealed its interior was in “very, very good shape” and work will not be needed on the inside.
He said the plan is to take the money saved and use it to construct a roof to protect parts of the tank that are exposed to the weather.
