In partnership with the Lawrence County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Easterseals Central and Southeast Ohio has opened an Adult Day Activity Center in South Point.
Easterseals Central and Southeast Ohio is partnering with the Lawrence County community to provide Adult Day services to 45 individuals currently enrolled in the program. In collaboration with the Lawrence County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the plan is to increase impact by expanding services to provide vocation and residential services later in 2017.
The Adult day program will be housed in a 14,000 square-foot programs space (formerly the Sybene Senior Center, Burlington) and will welcome individuals with disabilities and their families each day.
The building is equipped with a cafeteria, arts and crafts room, offices, basketball court, and more. If they elect, the clients will take trips outside of the center to the movies, Wal-Mart, local shops and restaurants. “We are proud to partner with the Lawrence County community and provide this much needed service to adults with disabilities in the County,” Pandora Shaw-Dupras, chief executive officer of Easterseals Central and Southeast Ohio, said.
The Adult Day Program opened its doors on Jan. 4, under the Easterseals brand and management. The community is invited to an Open House on March 7, from 2-6 p.m., to tour the updated space, meet the team and director Amanda Hamilton, and enjoy refreshments.
