We have seen over the last several years, the local, funding reductions resulting from a variety of causes has beleaguered state and federal government offices. Some of these issues have been compounded by inefficiencies, but many have had to make due with limited resources.

However, one example of doing more with less has been the Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste Management District, which provides a quality path on how to achieve goals with a focus on trying to improve Lawrence County.

Each day, the LSSWMD aims to promote recycling and cleaning up the county, but the organization’s efforts continue with several events throughout the year.

Some of these events include drug take backs, hazardous waste, countywide cleanups and river sweeps, just to name a few.

Each of these events and regular efforts to make Lawrence County shine are extremely important, and the LSSWMD are an excellent example of what can be done to improve our quality of life with hard work and getting others involved in a common goal.

It is important, however, for all residents to get involved and help organizations like the LSSWMD to ultimately get our county cleaned up. It will not be easy, but with everyone working together, there is no doubt that the spirit of Lawrence Countians can accomplish making our county shine.
