PROCTORVILLE — If the Fairland Lady Dragons were a little flat, they inflated quickly.
Fairland had an 18-point halftime lead and then exploded in the third quarter en route to a 77-37 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Rock Hill Redwomen on Thursday.
“We were a little flat and didn’t play as hard as we should defensively,” said Fairland coach Jon Buchanan.
“The third quarter was our best quarter. We came out with a little more energy.”
Fairland (12-1, 8-0) was led by Emily Chapman with 18 points including four 3-pointers. Kelsie Warnock scored 13 points and Taylar Wilson had 10.
Madison Scott had eight points for Rock Hill (6-8, 2-6).
Chapman scored 11 points to ignite the Lady Dragons’ offense as they took a 21-9 first quarter lead. Taylor Hall had four points for Rock Hill.
Allie Marshall scored all eight of her points in the second quarter as Fairland built a 40-22 lead at the half.
Warnock scored six points in the third quarter as Fairland outscored Rock Hill 20-5 and the lead was 60-27.
Morgan Fridley scored five of her eight points in the fourth quarter. Samantha Stamper scored four points for Rock Hill.
On Monday, Rock Hill hosts Gallipolis and Fairland visits Ironton in a key OVC game.
