Patricia Bailey

Patricia A. Bailey, 90, peacefully passed away on Jan. 6, 2017. Patricia was born in Ironton and was the daughter of the late Kirker J. Adams and Marjorie A. Adams. Patricia was married to Raymond Bailey from South Point and most recently resided at The Woodlands in Huntington, West Virginia.
Patricia received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Home Economic Education from Marshall University and taught in the South Point School Districts in Ohio for several years. She was also an educator for the Arthritis Foundation teaching self-help classes. She was a member of the Burlington United Methodist Church and more recently the South Point United Methodist Church, serving on many committees within the churches. Patricia was a devoted member of the South Point Chapter #404 Order of The Eastern Star, holding offices at both the local and state levels. Her hobbies included reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, needlepoint, playing dominoes and spending time with her Ya-Ya Sisters at the Snak Shak in South Point.
Patricia was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Lynn Rose, of Hagerstown, Maryland; and her son, Raymond Curtis Bailey “Curt,” of South Point.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Bailey; daughter and son-in-law, Janet E. Bailey and Remingius Onyshczak, of Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia; daughter-in- law, Gloria J. Bailey, of Proctorville; grandson, Joel E. Bailey, of Proctorville; granddaughter, Jodi R. Bailey, of Gladstone, Missouri; and great-grandson, Curtis J. Bailey, of Proctorville.
Patricia is also survived by her siblings, Robert Adams, Joseph Adams and Joann Fennell.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the South Point United Methodist Church, South Point, followed by graveside service. There will be no prior visitation, however, there will be a reception, following the graveside service at the Fellowship Hall of the South Point United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made, in memory of Patricia A. Bailey, to either the Arthritis Foundation of Ohio, 3740 Ridge Mill Dr., Hilliard, Ohio 43026 or the Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County (AWSJC), Attn: Renovation Fund, 147 Poor Farm Rd., Kearneysville, West Virginia 25430.

Dolores Jones

Nov. 26, 1955 — Jan. 6, 2017

Dolores Dawn Jones, 61, of Ironton, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky.
She was born Nov. 26, 1955, in Huntington, a daughter of the late Lester and Cindy Broncho Waddell.
Her husband, Donald K. Jones; and a brother, Lester William Waddell also preceded her in death. She formerly worked for Ohio University and was a member of Sharon Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Santina Jones, of Rincon, Georgia; two sons, Ryan (Christina) Jones, of Kitts Hill, and Justin Jones, of Ironton; four grandchildren, Lakynn Jones, Aron Jones, Ethan Crabtree and Hunter Jones; and a brother, Joseph C. (Vinnette) Waddell, of Ironton.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Sharon Baptist Church, 2010 South Fifth Street, Ironton, OH 45638.

May Hunt

May Evelyn Gillette Suiter Hunt, 95, of Proctorville, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at Grant Rehabilitation and Care Center, Petersburg, West Virginia. Family and friends will be received at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday following the visitation hour. Pastor Rob Jones of Beulah Baptist Church will assist May Evelyn’s family and friends in celebrating her life. Burial will follow at Rome Cemetery, Proctorville.

 

Thurma Glanville

Feb. 23, 1935 — Jan. 9, 2017

Thurma Anne Glanville, 81, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Ironton native was born Feb. 23, 1935, a daughter of the late Jason and Sadie Delawder Markin.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edward Glanville, whom she married Sept. 20, 1958, and passed away May 22, 2014.
Mrs. Glanville was a 1952 graduate of Ironton High School. She was a former employee for The Ironton Tribune and AEP. She retired from National City Bank of Ironton and was of the Protestant faith.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Faye Monnig and Elsie Stapleton.
She is survived by two sons, Jay Glanville, of San Antonio, Texas, and Jeff (Kathy) Glanville, of Gahanna; six grandchildren, Jason Paul Glanville, Jonathan Wells Glanville, Saralyn Elaine Glanville, Charlotte Rose Glanville, Kandace Louise Glanville, and Aaron Paul Glanville; a great-grandchild, Anastasia Glanville; two sisters, Roberta Swinford, of Faiborn, and Betty Joseph, of Coal Grove; and a brother-in-law, Robert Glanville, of Ironton.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Calvin Ray Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Ironton City Misison Church, 710 North 5th Street, Ironton, Ohio 45638.

Chase Sims

Chase Daniel Sims, 21, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. Arangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.
