Will serve in transition, on Transportation Landing Team
Ironton native Brigham A. McCown has been named to the Trump transition team, and will serve on the Transportation Landing Team at the Department of Transportation.
Acting as a liaison with the outgoing administration, McCown will be reviewing policies and procedures covering the transportation field with other landing team members.
“I’m humbled and honored to accept a volunteer role assisting with the peaceful transition of power from one administration to the next,” McCown said. “This process is to be cherished as a hallmark of our Republic, and I am grateful for this opportunity to serve.”
McCown is the chairman of Alliance for Innovation and Infrastructure, out of Alexandria, Virginia, and has served in several high-level administration posts at the U.S. Department of Transportation, including senior advisor to Sec. Norman Y. Mineta and Sec. Mary E. Peters, where he was responsible for overseeing the transportation of energy and hazardous materials as the acting administrator and deputy administrator of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA). He has also served as the country’s top attorney for the trucking, busing and moving industries as the chief counsel for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and is a retired Naval Aviator, considered one of the top regulatory safety policy experts in the country.
“My focus is on infrastructure, so I’ll be looking at transportation, energy, how we build things,” McCown said. “I’m happy to volunteer my time to help out and I’m looking forward to helping this administration get started.”
