The Hot Spot to host grand re-opening
An Ironton business is celebrating its 20-year anniversary this year with a grand re-opening, showcasing a change in the business and new additions.
The Hot Spot Salon and Boutique, formerly a salon and tanning parlor, will have its grand re-opening from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.
“We originally opened up 20 years ago as a tanning salon with a hair salon on one side,” Heather Montroso, owner of The Hot Spot, said. “We changed the tanning side over to a clothing and gift boutique, remodeled the hair salon side and added nails to our services.”
Besides the renovations inside, the outside of the building has undergone updates as well.
Montroso said she wanted to open a boutique in place of tanning because of the decline in tanning interest. “The tanning industry has changed and there’s not as much demand for it as there once was,” she said. “We also added two new hair stylists and nail techs.”
The new stylists and nail techs arrived from the now closed, All That full service salon in Coal Grove.
“We thought we could serve the community better, and we’re excited about offering the area a unique boutique for someone to purchase unique gifts,” Montroso said. “For the grand re-opening, we’re offering 20 percent off all retail and there will be door prizes and refreshments.”
The Hot Spot Salon and Boutique marks the first boutique and nail service, complete with a pedicure chair, in Ironton, and is located at 1928 S. Third St.
