Man admits rape charges

Will be sentenced on Nov. 2
A Chesapeake man accused of raping a child pleaded guilty to an amended indictment Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.
Charles A. Ferris, 30, of 418 Second Ave., pleaded guilty to two first-degree counts of rape. The indictment lists the victim as 2 years old at the time of the crime for those charges. Fifty-two additional counts of rape were dismissed.
Judge Charles Cooper set sentencing for Nov. 2.
In other cases, Christopher Thomas, 30, of 308 Second St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree count of harassment by an inmate. Counts of assault on a peace officer and escape were dismissed. Cooper sentenced the man to nine months in prison,
Jackie Jackson, 38, of 979 Township Road 153, Waterloo, who previously pleaded guilty to third-degree complicity to escape and fifth-degree obstruction of justice, was sentenced to four years community control sanctions under intensive supervised probation and STAR.
Irene Abbott, 33, of Crown City, admitted CCS violation and was sentenced to five months in prison by retired judge Richard Walton.
Brenna Shavor, 34, of Proctorville, admitted CCS violations. Walton sentenced the woman to treatment at Mended Reeds.
