Kitts Hill man gets nine years
Defendants were sentenced to prison Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court, including a Kitts Hill man led police on a chase going more than 100 mph.
Michael Wikoff, 37, of 1141 County Road 105, Kitts Hill, who previously pleaded guilty to first-degree felonious assault, third-degree failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and a fifth-degree and misdemeanor count of theft, was sentenced to a total of nine years in prison. Judge Charles Cooper also ordered the man to pay $400 in restitution.
In other cases:
Dwayne Gue, 20, of 105 Private Drive 11202, Chesapeake, who previously pleaded guilty to third-degree failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, fifth-degree and obstructing official business, was sentenced to 24 months in prison.
John Ferrell, 46, of 914 N. Fifth St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree count of possession of drugs. A fifth-degree count of possession of cocaine was dismissed.
Cooper sentenced the man to six months in prison and ordered him to forfeit $5,645 that was specified in the indictment as being on his person at the time of his arrest.
Andrew Thompson, 33, of 187 Township Road 1301 Chesapeake, was arraigned on a fifth-degree count of possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor count of DUI, to which he pleaded not guilty. Cooper set bond at $10,000 own-recognizance and set a pretrial for Oct. 19.
Scott Zornes, 54, of 164 Private Drive 6586, Kitts Hill, admitted community control sanctions violations and was sentenced to 900 days in prison.
George Stanley, 33, of 1178 County Road 121, Proctorville, pleaded guilty to two fifth-degree counts of criminal non-support. Two misdemeanor counts of the same charge were dismissed. Cooper sentenced the man to nine months in prison.
Crystal Grenier, 32, of 622 County Road 56, South Point, was arraigned on a fifth-degree count of possession of a controlled substance, to which she pleaded not guilty. Cooper set bond at $7,500 cash or surety and set a pretrial for Oct. 19.
James Baker, 23, of 53 Private Drive 125, Chesapeake, pleaded guilty to counts of third-degree intimidation, fourth-degree assault on a peace officer, fifth-degree vandalism, fifth-degree harassment by an inmate and misdemeanor attempted escape and resisting arrest. Cooper set sentencing for Oct. 12.
Jaymond Estes, 23, of 924 1/2 13th St., Huntington, admitted CCS violations and was sentenced to eight months in prison.
Clinton Cremeans, 37, of 433 Private Drive 856, South Point, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree theft from a protected class and receiving stolen property and two misdemeanor counts of theft. Retired judge Richard Walton set sentencing for Oct. 19.
Todd Hehl, 26, of 120 Linda Ave., Lucasville, admitted CCS violations and was sentenced to five months in prison.
Shawn Miller, 31, of 218 S. Fourth St., Ironton, admitted CCS violations and was sentenced to four months in prison.
Mark Gaspers, 34, of 275A County Road 52, Ironton, pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree count of theft. Walton sentenced the man to four years CCS under intensive supervised probation, 200 hours community service and $1,409 restitution.
Keith Wetzel, 49, of 613 S. Eighth St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree count of possession of heroin. Walton sentenced the man to four years CCS/ISP, 200 hours community service and outpatient drug treatment.
Thomas Cox Jr., 35, of 30 Township Road 310, Ironton, was arraigned on a fifth-degree count of possession of drugs to which he pleaded not guilty. Walton set bond at $10,000 OR and set a pretrial for Oct. 19.
Brennan Thornburg, 23, of 8130 County Road 1, South Point, was sentenced to six months in prison for violating his treatment in lieu of conviction orders.
Charlie Adkins, 36, of 4676 Camp Branch Road, Huntington, admitted CCS violations and was sentenced to 12 months in prison.
Penny McClary, 40, of 1392 County Road 1, South Point, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of possession of drug abuse instruments and was sentenced 40 days in jail.
Trent Smoot, 38, of 2716 County Road 15, South Point, was arraigned on a third-degree and a misdemeanor count of DUI and a misdemeanor count of driving under suspension, to which he pleaded not guilty. Walton set bond at $40,000 cash or surety and set a pretrial for Oct. 26.
Richard Curry Jr., 60, of 103 Winslow Drive, Coal Grove, who previously pleaded guilty to fourth-degree complicity to trafficking in drugs and a fifth-degree complicity to trafficking in heroin, was sentenced to four years CCS/ISP, 200 hours community service and STAR.
