Lady Fighting Tigers win 3 games at own invitational

By going 2-out-of-3 the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers went 3-for-3.
The Lady Tigers won all three of their volleyball games on Saturday in their annual invitational tournament by identical 2-1 scores over the Ashland Kittens, Russell Lady Red Devils and Greenup County Lady Musketeers.
Ironton beat Russell 25-11, 16-25 and 25-14 in their first game.
Alyssa Lewis had 17 points, D’Laynie Keith nine, Zakie Lee, Lexie Wise and Kenzie Cremeens four each and Alli White three.
Wise had 12 kills and Keith seven. Lewis also racked up 22 assists.
Defensively, middle blocker Lee had eight blocks and Cremeens six.
“Those two had a superb defensive effort all day defending our courtside. I can’ praise their work enough,” said Ironton coach Beth Campbell.
The Lady Fighting Tigers then knocked off Ashland 22-25, 25-16 and 25-19.
Lewis again led the offense with 14 points. Wise had seven, Keith six and Cremeens and White four each.
Wise registered 15 kills and Lewis had 24 assists.
Lee had another big defensive game with 11 blocks and Cremeens added five. Keith came up with 12 digs.
In their final game, Ironton beat Greenup 25-14, 25-27 and 25-17.
Lewis finished up her big day with 17 more points. Keith had seven while Wise, Cremeens and White had four each.
Wise piled up 11 kills and Keith seven. Lee had eight blocks and Cremeens seven. Keith had nine digs and Lewis six.
Ironton (9-3) visits Ashland, Ky. at 6 p.m. on Monday.
