Expected to be completed in late fall
Construction on the Ironton riverfront project is in full swing as Allard Excavation, LLC broke ground on July 11.
Steel sheet pilings for the Riverwalk are currently being installed before the parking lot side of the wall will be backfilled with the sidewalks installed along the Riverwalk connecting to the existing parking lot.
“We also anticipate the installation of the guide pilings for the floating docks will begin within the next three to four weeks,” Michael Williams, project engineer at E.L. Robinson, said.
Originally bid at $716,916.97 by Allard Excavation, LLC in September of last year, the project was redesigned and re-bid to Allard at $668,877.79 with the city paying the difference of $9,429.79 from the general fund.
The 450-foot-long marina will have a 6-foot wide concrete capping on top of the seawall and 33 boat docks.
Williams said the project is expected to be completed by late fall.
