Huntington comic con’s 5th year another success

This past weekend marked the fifth annual Tri-State Comic Convention at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena in Huntington.

This year’s event was sponsored by several local and regional comic book dealers and creators as well as several local businesses and charities, including Broken Icon Comics of West Virginia, The Goblin Traders of Ironton, The Inner Geek, of Ashland, Dungeon Dwellers, of Portsmouth, and The Standard Nerds, of South Point, who raised nearly $500 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Special guests this year included Dave Aikins, a children’s book illustrator and Nickelodeon publishing artist, Ted Dibiase, a WWE Hall Of Fame professional wrestler known as the “The Million Dollar Man,” and Beau Smith, creator and writer of Wynonna Earp comic book series.

Other events included a charity auction that raised money for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and a cosplay contest with cash prizes.
