Mildred Fairchild

April 1, 1929 — May 25, 2016

Mildred Mae Massie Fairchild, 87, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at the Best Care Nursing Center in Wheelersburg. The Lawrence County native was born April 1, 1929, a daughter of the late Homer and Rinda Vaughn McClellan.

Mrs. Fairchild was a 1978 graduate of Shawnee State University with her degree in nursing. She retired in 1996 from King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky, where she was a registered nurse.

She held many hands, cooked many meals, donated many hours and touched many lives to ease other people’s suffering. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ironton and the Ironton Music Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Massie; and a son, Jeffrey Massie.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Fairchild, whom she married Nov. 11, 1981; son and daughter-in-law, Dustin and Carlana  Massie, of Granite City, Illinois; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce Ann and Daniel Ward, of Columbus; five grandchildren, Edward Massie, Jason (Susanah) Massie, Angela (Amol) Massie Khotpal, Heather (Thomas) Ward Bechtel and Kathryn (Jason) Ward Fawcett; and four great-grandchildren, Megan and Leah Bechtel and Avi and Adya Khotpal.

There will be a memorial service 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, Ironton, with the Rev. Caleb LaFond officiating.  Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, and family and friends may visit Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Dean Lewis

Dean C. Lewis, 65, of Scottown, died Wednesday May 25, 2016, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Huntington, by Father Dean Borgmeyer. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Proctorville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Gaston Walker

Gaston Francis Walker, 53, of Wilmington, Delaware, died Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Wilmington Hospital, Wilmington, Delaware. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at 16th Street Baptist Church, Huntington, West Virginia. Visitation will be one hour to the service at the church. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Cecil Adkins

Cecil Gene Adkins, 74, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday at Sunshine Freewill Baptist Church, Huntington. Burial will follow in Adkins and Hager Cemetery, Lincoln County, West Virginia.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the church. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.
