Lloyd Kidd
April 7, 1930 — May 23, 2016
Lloyd “Gene” Kidd, 86, of Pedro, passed away Monday, May 23, 2016, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Lawrence County native was born April 7, 1930, a son of the late Joe and Ethel Sizemore Kidd. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen Depriest Kidd, whom he married May 17, 1955.
Gene was a U.S. Army veteran, served in Korea and earned a Purple Heart. He retired from the Dayton Malleable Iron Company after 20 years of service there and also retired from the Juvenile Detention Center in Ironton. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley FWB Church in Pedro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Kidd; and a sister, Helen Sharp.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Brian (Tamara) Kidd and Blaine (Beverly) Kidd, all of Pedro; five grandchildren, Brian (Christina) Kidd Jr., of Ironton, Jason (Tiffani) Kidd, of Pedro, Michelle (Jeff) Blakeman, of Willow Wood, Molly (Clayton) Bryant, of Coal Grove, and Breanne (Josh) Schwab, of Ironton; three brothers, Floyd Kidd, of Ironton, and Wayne Kidd and Jack Kidd, both of Pedro; two sisters, Carol Blagg, of Decatur, and Jo Ann Cox, of Pedro; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Shane Hanshaw and pastor Jeff Blakeman officiating.
