Commission would pay up to 3 years service
The Lawrence County Commissioners have approved an early retirement incentive plan for its employees.
Those eligible for the plan are 100 percent of commission employees working in offices and members of the Public Retirement System.
Elected officials, commissioners, anyone elected or appointed to serve a fixed term as long as the appointment isn’t by the commissioners and anyone retired on disability are not eligible.
The plan was instituted following the commissioners’ Thursday regular meeting.
“The employee agrees to retire within 90 days after receiving notice from the PERS that service credit has been purchased,” the plan states.
Three years of the county’s portion of the retirement can be purchased by the county and go towards PERS.
In other action the commission:
• Approved the Marine Patrol Grant Agreement for the sheriff where state’s portion is $14,625 and the county match is $4,875.98;
• Accepted the resignation of part-time paramedic William Held;
• Approved the promotion of Lisa Pine as assistant administrator at the Union-Rome Sewer District;
• Received and studied a quote of $4,132 from Perfection to replace a valve in the air handler room;
• Received and referred to the county engineer to establish Private Road 910 as an Elizabeth Township road;
