Ironton City Council will hear three ordinances at tonight’s council meeting.
Ordinance 16-17, to adopt the annual operating budget for the city of Ironton for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2016, and declaring an emergency, will be given its first reading. The ordinance regards each department setting forth amounts for salaries and other expenses, and the amended portion is about the police department pay structure.
Ordinance 16-19, authorizing and directing the mayor to enter into a contract with the Ironton Metropolitan Housing Authority and declaring an emergency, will be given its first reading.
The contract is for the provision of specific police services associated with the authority’s security programs. The authority wants to contract with the city for additional police services to create a crime and drug free environment and to provide for the safety and protection of the residents in its public housing developments. The city, through its police department, agrees to assist the authority in the effort.
Ordinance 16-14, authorizing and directing the mayor to execute an agreement with E.L. Robinson Engineering Company, INC. regarding the Ironton general engineering services for 2016, will be given its second reading. The agreement is for $25,000.
The council meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the council chambers on the third floor of the Ironton City Center. The Rev. Eric Barnes, of Ironton First Baptist Church, will conduct the invocation prior to the meeting.
