Sectional tournament tickets are now on sale for the boys Division III sectional basketball tournament game and the girls’ Division III district game.

Tickets are $5 each and available in the high school main office. Ironton receives only a percentage of the pre-sale.

The girls play at 6:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at Waverly’s downtown arena. The boys play at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday at Jackson High School.

CGLL registration dates

to be held Feb. 20, 27

The Coal Grove Little League will hold its baseball and softball registrations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, Feb. 20 and 27, at Coal Grove High School.

Registration is open to youths ages 4-18. Fee is $35 for the first child and $25 for each addition sibling.

Final date to apply to coach a team is Saturday, Feb. 27.

Officials to host youth

benefit tournaments

The Ironton Basketball Chapter will conduct a grade school all-star basketball tournament March 4-5-6 at the Rock Hill schools complex with proceeds funding two academic scholarships.

The tournament is for boys and girls teams in grades 4-5-6. Entry fee is $100 per team. Varsity referees will be used to officiate all games.

The scholarships will be awarded to a male and female high school student from any Ohio Valley Conference school as well as St. Joseph and Symmes Valley. Scholarship recipients will be selected by the recommendation a group of retired teachers.

Ironton Little League

sets registration dates

The Ironton Little League will have registration for boys’ and girls’ leagues aged 4-and-up for the upcoming baseball and softball seasons.

Registrations will be Thursday, Feb. 25, 5-8 p.m. at Wendy’s, Fourth and Center streets.

Registrants’ will be required to provide proof of age (birth certificate) and three proof of residency if the child does not attend a school within league boundaries.

Other dates of interest:

March 5 tryouts for minor league and above); March 7 make-up tryouts; March 8 draft (minor league and above); March 12 practices begin; April 9 Opening Day.

The Rock Hill National Little League will conduct registrations from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Feb. 20, 21, 27 and 28 at the Rock Hill Middle School.

Fee is $20 per child with a cap of $60 per family. Also, there is a $20 per-child opt-out fee for fundraisers.

RHNLL is a volunteer ran organization but there is a $20 opt out for volunterring.

Anyone wanting to apply for a coach needs to apply no later than Saturday, Feb. 27. No youth will be left out for any reason.

The South Point Little League will conduct registrations on Thursday, Feb. 18, at South Point Giovanni’s Pizza.

Not only will registrations for boys’ and girls’ baseball and softball be conducted, Giovanni’s will donate a portion of the sales each day to the little league.

 

 

Youth AAU basketball

tournament March 11-13

An AAU basketball tournament will be held Friday through Sunday, March 11-13, at South Point High School for boys and girls in grades 3-11.

SCW pro wrestling

planned for Feb. 20

SCW professional wrestling will conduct six matches beginning at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb.20, at the Wayne (W.Va.) Community Center.

Admission is $8 with children 5 and under free. Doors open at 7 pm. Proceeds go to the community center. For further information, call (740) 652-5985.

 

 

Lady Vikes’ softball set

annual rummage sale

The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings’ softball team annual rummage sale will be held from 8 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, in the high school gym.

Anyone wishing to donate any items for the rummage sale may drop them off at the school from 3-8 p.m. on Friday, March 4.
