Lorraine Gibson

Jan. 16, 1924—Feb. 16, 2016

Lorraine Lena Church Gibson, 92, of Kenova, West Virginia, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington. She was born Jan. 16, 1924, in Willard, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Kenneth E. and Della Lee Gillum Church. She had worked as a cafeteria attendant at the Ironton Hospital. She was a member of Buffalo Valley Missionary Baptist Church where she was a very active member. Lorraine loved to visit and spend time with her family. She also enjoyed a deep love for fishing.

In addition to her parents Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Leo B. Gibson; one daughter, Carolyn “Jane” Skipworth Bowman; one granddaughter, Dawn Bernice Bowman Jenkins; two sisters, Nellie Church Hankins and Maxine Church; and one brother, Ernest Church. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, James “Jim” (Alice) Skipworth, of Franklin Furnace, Terry (Diane) Gillum, of Glen Burnie, Maryland and Randy Lee Gillum, of Ceredo, West Virginia; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one brother, James K. Church, of Clarksville, Tennessee; two stepsons and their wives, Tom (Melinda) Gibson, of Kenova and Dr. Leo B. (Chloe) Gibson, Jr., of Teays Valley, West Virginia and their extended family and a host of other family and friends. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Buffalo Valley Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the church with pastor Tim Jayne officiating. Burial will follow at Buckeye Cemetery on Haverhill Ohio Furnace Road. Flowers will be accepted and appreciated or contributions may be made to the church or charity of your choice in her memory. Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova is assisting the family. Gregory Bland

Gregory A. Bland, 54, of Willow Wood, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. He is survived by his wife Teresa Betts Bland.

Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville with pastor Darrell Fowler and pastor Brian Long.

Private burial will follow.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

Jerry Hall

Jerry Lynn Hall, 67, of Huntington, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Hall.

Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Preston Family Cemetery, Paintsville, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the the funeral home.

Larry Salmons

Larry Junior Salmons, 44, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at home. He is survived by his wife Shelly.

Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville..

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
