CHESAPEAKE — Everybody joined in.

The Chesapeake Lady Panthers used a team effort on both ends of the court to beat the Greenup County Lady Musketeers 46-21 on Tuesday in the first day of the Lady Peake Holiday Tournament.

“The kids played well. Bailey Mills, Brooke Wells and Kelsey Huff did a nice job on (Micah) Leslie who is their leading scorer,” said Lady Panthers’ coach Chris Ball.

“It was good to see Dominique Murphy come back from injury and play the way she did. Kaylee Curry did her usual and Jozy Jones always does a lot of small things for us that helps us out.”

The South Point Lady Pointers edged the Wayne Lady Pioneers 49-48 in the first game.

Chesapeake will now take on South Point in the title game at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Greenup County plays Wayne at 1 p.m. in the consolation game.

Curry had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Panthers (6-2). Jones got 10 points, Murphy had 9 points and 3 assists, Webb blocked 3 shots, Hall grabbed 8 rebounds and Mills had 3 assists.

Curry and Jones scored 6 points each in the first quarter as Chesapeake took a 14-9 lead. Gracie Haywood hit a pair of 3-pointers for Greenup (2-5).

Curry scored 6 more points in the second quarter as the Lady Panthers went up 25-12 at the half.

The defense held Greenup to 3 points in the third quarter and Murphy scored 5 points as Chesapeake stretched the lead to 35-15.
