PROCTORVILLE — Just call them a bunch of hot shots.

The Fairland Dragons shot 57 percent from the field en route to an 89-34 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Rock Hill Redmen on Tuesday.

Fairland connected on 32-of-56 shots from the field including 9-of-22 from behind the arc. The Dragons also converted 16-of-19 at the foul line.

“We played pretty well as a whole and we shot the ball really well,” said Fairland coach Nathan Speed. “And it was another team effort. Everyone contributed in some way.”

Leading the shooting onslaught was Gunner Short who scored 22 points as he made 7-of-10 floor shots and was 6-of-6 at the foul line.

Luke Thomas scored 16 points, Brandon Porter came off the bench to get 10 points and 4 rebounds while Kollin Van Horn had 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.

Fairland improved to 4-1 and 3-0 in the OVC.

Tyler Damron and Mason Darby scored 11 points each for Rock Hill (0-8, 0-3).

Short scored 10 points in the first quarter as Fairland bolted to a 20-4 lead.

He scored 9 more points in the second quarter as Fairland opened up a comfortable 52-18 cushion.

Thomas scored 6 points in the third quarter as Fairland extended the lead to 68-29.

Porter led the backups with 8 points in the fourth quarter.

Fairland plays in the Dover TCC Holiday Tournament on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Zanesville Rosecrans. Rock Hill hosts Oak Hill on Tuesday.
