Randi Markel
July 26, 1980—Nov. 5, 2015
Randi Marie Markel, 35, of South Point, passed away Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Ironton native was born July 26, 1980, a daughter of Susie Friend Markel of Pedro and the late Hank Markel.
Randi attended Rock Hill High School and was a former employee for Pick n Save, where she worked in the deli. She was a member of Cross Community Church (C3) in South Point. She enjoyed spending time with her family and doing word searches. She was a wonderful cook and also enjoyed playing cards.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Ella Marie Friend; and paternal grandmother, Madge Marie Markel.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her fiancé, Joseph Smith; a sister, Misty (Mark) Delong; a stepfather, Mike Stapleton; and four nieces, Casey, Alison, McKinzie, and Jessica Delong.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor Trent Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Furnace Cemetery and visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mark Patrick
April 13, 1965—Nov. 5, 2015
Mark Allen Patrick, 50, of Kitts Hill, passed away Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. The Ironton native was born April 13, 1965, a son of Sharon Brown Jones of Ironton and the late Delbert Allen Patrick. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Twyla K. Cochran Patrick, whom he married June 24, 1991.
Mark was a 1983 graduate of Rock Hill High School and was a former employee for Ironton Iron. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding dunebuggies and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Lukas Christopher Allen Patrick.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by two sons, Christopher Shawn Patrick of Ashland and Cody Allen Patrick of Kitts Hill; three grandchildren, Shawn Robert Hess, Chyanna Mae Hess, and Jayden Levi Hess; a brother, Michael Patrick of Ironton; a sister, Deborah Cochran of Ironton; two half brothers, Richard Patrick and Ronnie Patrick, both of South Point; a half sister, Pamela Taylor of South Point; a stepbrother, Rocky Jones of Columbus; a stepsister, Tina McKenzie of Ironton; a dear friend: David Rife of Ironton; and his father in law and mother in law, Wilburn and Gloria Cochran of Ironton

Randall McColllister
Dec. 18, 1949–Nov. 2, 2015
Dr. Randall L. McCollister, 66, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at Southern Ohio Medical Center, Portsmouth. Dr. McCollister was born Dec. 18, 1949, a son to Joseph McCollister and the late Erma Osbourne McCollister.
He was a graduate of Ironton High School, the Ohio State University with a BS in Allied Health and the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo. He loved the Ohio State Buckeyes, horses, cars and basketball.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by son, Morgan Randall McCollister.
In addition to his father, he is survived by two daughters, Kristen McCollister Carpenter of Johnstown and Jessica Eugenio of Louisville, Kentucky; three sons, Rory McCollister, Joshua McCollister and Devon McCollister, all of Louisville, Kentucky; four sisters, Terri McCollister, Lori McCollister Cannan, Brenda McCollister Stover and Amy McCollister; and seven grandchildren.

Ruthellen Freeman
Sept. 23, 1923—Nov. 4, 2015
Ruthellen “Louise” Freeman, 92, of Ironton went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, in Heartland of Riverside. Mrs. Freeman was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Dixie Hollow Clarksburg, West Virginia, a daughter to the late Lloyd and Elizabeth (Minnis) Lee. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Melvin O. Freeman, Sr. whom she married Dec. 26, 1943. Our beloved Louise was a retired housekeeper. She was a devoted member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she participated in the mission, choir, Bible study and other church activities. She loved serving the Lord, singing and traveling with a Christian choir group known as “The Davis Singers” where she made several life long friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by all her siblings: two brothers, Ernest (Bustard) Lee and John Lewis Lee; and
three sisters, Pauline Thomas, Bertha Mae Hilliard, Mary Elizabeth Alberta Louise Oliver
She is survived by four sons, the Rev. Melvin O. (Carolyn) Freeman, Jr. of South Point, Kenneth Lee Freeman of Ashland, Kentucky, Alan Dean Freeman of Maryland and Curtis Randal (Joyce) Freeman of Washington Court House; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of friends and family who will miss her
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Damion Sneed officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. until time of the service at the church.
