Robert Frazier

Oct. 27, 1953 –– Sept. 16, 2015

Robert Jeffrey “Jeff” Frazier died at his home on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015 at 3:30 p.m. Mr. Frazier was born on Oct. 27, 1953, at Portsmouth Receiving Hospital in Portsmouth. He worked at Homestead Maytag for 15 years in Flatwoods, Kentucky.

Mr. Frazier was preceded in death by his parents, Wilma Maxine (Adkins) Frazier and Carl Franklin Frazier; two brothers, Roger Frazier and Charles Frazier; a brother-in-law, Roy (Jill) Newton; and an honorary grandson, Carson Anson.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 24 years, Rita Mae (Crisp) Frazier; two brothers, Larry (Jamie) Frazier, of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Michael (Ginger) Frazier, of Wheelersburg; three sisters, Sharon (Paul) Roberts, of Beaver, Pam Jackson, of Portsmouth and Jill Newton of Havelock, North Carolina.

In addition to Mr. Frazier’s brothers and sisters, he left behind a son, Christopher Robert Frazier, of Southgate, Michigan; and a daughter, Tina ( Phillip Allen) Frazier Smith, of Ashland, Kentucky; a step-daughter, Barbara Sue (David) Cagle, of Lincoln Park, Michigan; and one beloved grandson, Phillip Carl Smith of Ashland, Kentucky.

Mr. Frazier had three step grandchildren, Tiffany Scerba, Cecelia Katherine Scerba and Kyle Brandon Cagle; one step great-grandson, David Robert Cagle; and two step great-granddaughters, Brooklyn and Jenny Scerba, all of Michigan. Mr. Frazier also leaves behind an honorary sister, Rita Jane Shelton of Ashland, Kentucky and an honorary brother, James D. Maynard of Catlettsburg, Kentucky.

In addition, his honorary son, Homer William (Billy) Anson and honorary granddaughter, Hayleigh Anson of Ironton, survives him. Mr Frazier’s funeral service will be 6 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with Jim Matney officiating. The visitation will be on Saturday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home, where friends and family may gather.  Yvonne Elswick

Feb. 21, 1956 ­­–– Sept. 13, 2015

Yvonne Sue Elswick, 59, passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. The Lawrence County native was born Feb. 21, 1956, a daughter of the late Edgar Elswick and Mary Alice Jenkins Elswick.

Ms. Elswick attended Ironton High School. She was also employed at Goodwill. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorraine Pizelli and Kathy Elswick; and two brothers, Lonnie Elswick and Charles Elswick.

She is survived by two brothers, Mark Elswick and David Lee Elswick; sister, Carolyn K. Willison; and nephew, Phillip Elswick.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Hecla Cemetery. There will be no public visitation and Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, is assisting the family with the arrangements. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

 Shawn Caudill

Shawn O’Neil Caudill, 49 of Winchester died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Funeral services will be at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods on Saturday at 1 p.m. with pastor Ashley Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.  Avanelle Sowards

Avanelle Sowards, 90, of Gallipolis, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, at Middleton Estates, Gallipolis. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.
