ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — A.J. Ouellette ran for a touchdown off a direct snap late in the fourth quarter to help Ohio beat Marshall 21-10 on Saturday night.
Ouellette’s 1-yard score with five minutes to play capped a 19-play, 85-yard drive for the Bobcats (2-0). On the ensuing kickoff, Deandre Reaves returned the ball 100 yards into the end zone, but the potential touchdown was called back because of an illegal block penalty. Ohio’s Nathan Carpenter intercepted Michael Birdsong’s pass to end the game.
Daz’mond Patterson ran for a 33-yard touchdown, and JD Sprague threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Sebastian Smith, whose one-handed catch gave the Bobcats a 14-7 halftime lead.
Devon Johnson ran for 170 yards on 21 carries, with a 73-yard touchdown run for Marshall (1-1). Nick Smith added a 33-yard field goal.
