Laurie Floyd

Laurie Ann Floyd, 58, of Ironton, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015, at her residence. The Salem native was born Sept. 11, 1956, a daughter of Millie Miller Kelly of Lisbon and the late Cleon Kelly. She is also survived by her husband, Timothy F. Floyd, whom she married Jan. 18, 1985.

Mrs. Floyd attended Ohio University Southern and was a former medical assistant with Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, Dr. Banzel’s office.

In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by two stepsons, Chris Floyd and Michael Floyd, both of Ironton; two sisters, Lynn Ferguson of Lisbon and Diana Farrow of Ironton; and a brother: Roger Kelly of Salem

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with Dr. Kevin Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Buckhorn Cemetery and visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Margaret Hamlin

Margaret Teresa Hamlin, 55, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus. The Ironton native was born Aug. 1, 1959, the daughter of the late Charlie and Ann Hunt Hamlin. She is survived by her life partner, Kathy Manshine.

Ms. Hamlin was a graduate of Ironton High School, a CNA for Passport and of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by a brother, Charles Hamlin of Portage, Indiana; a sister, Carol Bowman of St. Mary’s; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Bob (Kristi) Richardson of Middleport; nieces and nephews, Lisa Bowman of St. Mary’s, Joshua Bowman of St. Mary’s, Morgan Hamlin of Portage, Indiana, Kerry Wilson of Ironton, Melissa Layne of Ironton, Kip Barcus of Ironton and Zak Richardson of Columbus; seven great nieces and nephews; and her pets, Garfield, Annie and Bo.

Conrad Sparks

Conrad “Conn” Sparks, 84, of Kitts Hill, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. The Elliott County, Kentucky, native was born Sept. 8, 1930, a son of the late Marion F. and Linda Jane Sparks. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carrie “Edith” Clonch Sparks, whom he married July 25, 1964.

Mr. Sparks attended school in Elliott County, Kentucky. He was a Kentucky Colonel and was part of the bluegrass and gospel music band, Conn Sparks and the Ohio Valley Boys. He loved playing bluegrass music and was a member of the Myrtle Ridge Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Crate, Woodrow, and Bert; his sisters, Mavis, Gladys, Goldie, Hazel and Gaythel; and his first wife, Mavis Sparks.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Connie P. (Jade) McDonald of Kitts Hill; two grandchildren, Gabriel Salyers and Jacob McDonald; sister-in-law, Kathleen Sparks of Mt. Vernon; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe funeral home with the Rev. Richard Carter and Pastor Homer Campbell officiating.

Linda Callahan

Linda Lou Callahan, 74, of Proctorville, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. She is survived by her husband, Byron T. Callahan. Funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. There will be a private burial. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Juanita Marie Ball Robertson, 80, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Sunday, April 26, 2015, after a long illness. Sam Leighty

Peter Samuel “Sam” Leighty, 78, of South Point, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Jo Lin Health Center, Ironton. He was born Aug. 24, 1936, in South Point, a son of the late Ryan and Mae Cole Leighty. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Della Mae Leighty; and three brothers, Don Leighty, Dave Leighty and Tom Leighty. Sam was a graduate of South Point High School, a member of First Baptist Church, South Point, a U.S. Army veteran and a retired employee of the former Semet Solvay Corp., Ironton. Sam is survived by five children, Jennifer (Michael) Webb, Alan C. (Karen) Leighty, Tim (Tonia) Leighty, Leslie Pyles and Pete (Tina) Leighty; two sisters, Priscilla Beard and Roberta McWhorter; a brother, Pat (Brenda) Leighty; 13 grandchildren, Christy, Jamie, Travis, Cody, Josh, Nathan, Ashlee, Eric, Justin, Amy, Whitney, Ericka and Michael; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point with pastor Tom Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Highlands Memorial Gardens, South Point. Fredrick Wilds Sr.

Fredrick C. Wilds, Sr. 62, of Ironton, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at home with his wife and sons at his side. He was born Feb. 28, 1953, to the late Fred and Clara Monnig Wilds.

He attended Rock Hill High School and was an owner/operator of Wilds Trucking Company. He enjoyed woodworking and dirt track racecars.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister; one brother; and a son, Fredrick C. Wilds, Jr.

Fredrick is survived by his wife of 43 years, Donna Wilds of Ironton; two sons, Adam (Amy) Wilds and David (Nichole) Wilds, all of Ironton; five brothers, Mike (Carol) Wilds, Paul (Pam) Wilds, Steve (Teresa) Wilds, Patrick (Lisa) Wilds, and Tim (Sherri) Wilds, all of Ironton; a sister, Mary (John) Stewart of Ironton; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and special friends, Bo and Goldie Pierson.
