PEDRO — It seems as if it doesn’t matter who is on the lineup card for the Rock Hill Redwomen.

With some starters out and some backups in, the Redwomen remained unbeaten with an 8-4 win over the South Point Lady Pointers on Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“We had to play some girls at different positions and Blake Roberts and Taylor Hall did a nice job filling in,” said Rock Hill coach Sam Gue.

“Jill and Riann worked well together and Kaci Russell continued to hit the ball hard.”

Hairston gave up eight hits, struck out two and did not walk a batter to get the win.

Rock Hill (16-0, 6-0) had 13hits with Kaci Russell and Jenna Lane each going 3-4. Makenzi Harrah was 2-3 with three runs battd in and Taylor Hall was 2-3.

Haley Rawlins had a big game as she went 2-4 with a pair of solo home runs to lead the Lady Pointers. Lexi Smith also went 2-4.

Rock Hill went up 1-0 in the first inning when Lane singled, Hairston reached on an error and Harrah hit a sacrifice fly.

South Point tied the game in the second when Leah Lawson singled, moved to third on an error and scored on a ground out.

Rawlins homered in the third for a 2-1 lead but Rock Hill rallied for six runs in the fifth.

Russell and Lane singled, Hairston put down a sacrifice and Harrah had an RBI single.

Keating doubled in two runs, Anna Darby singled home Keating, Alexis Brammer tripled for a run and Taylor Hall singled in the final run.

Rawlins hit her second home run in the top of the sixth but Rock Hill got the run back in the bottom of the inning when Russell and Lane singled, Hairston was hit by a pitch and Harrah singled.

Rock Hill hosts Fairland on Thursday.
