Betty Holbrook

Betty Jane Holbrook, of Ft. Myers, Florida, passed away unexpectedly. She was a loving, caring, generous, Christian woman. The love she gave as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend was very special. Her absence will be felt by many whose life she has touched.

Betty was born in Ashland, resided there, Ironton and Ft. Myers.

Betty was an active member of St. Michael Lutheran Church in Ft. Myers and the First Baptist Church of Ironton. She was an avid reader and seamstress, quilting blankets and making dolls for the church ministries. She also enjoyed uplifting many hearts in nursing home ministries singing and playing the piano.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Janie Martin, her siblings Elsie, Paul, Nellie, Margie, Eddie, Georgeann, Bill, and by her husband Ralph Holbrook.

Betty is survived by her sister, Laura Cascio; her children Cathy Castle and husband Joe, Rex McCarty and his wife Terri; her grandchildren, Brandie Nichols, Olivia Morin and her husband Jordan, Kristyn, Ryan, and Megan McCarty. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Lucas, Jace and Charlotte, stepgrandchildren Madison and Keelyn, along with many nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home. Funeral service will be noon Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Eric Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. To offer the family online condolences, please visit: www.tracybrammerfh.com

A celebration of Betty/Mom’s life will be held in Ft Myers on Saturday April 18, at the St. Michael Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.

 

 

Michael White

Michael Franklin White, Sr., 67, of Ironton, passed away Monday, April 6, 2015, at his residence. The Cleveland native was born July 12, 1947, the son of the late Jesse Franklin and Jeanette Lewis White.

Michael was a 1965 graduate of Ironton High School, a U.S. Navy veteran, serving eight years during the Vietnam War and was in the National Guard. He retired in 2003 from Marathon Petroleum Company, where he had been employed for 16 years and was a member of the St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church. He was also a member of the VFW, the Elks, Moose, Eagles, and the Legion. He was a member of the Tiger Clan, the Ironton Country Club where he was an avid golfer, sportsman, and U.S. Amateur Golf Champion. He was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Browns, and Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed playing football, basketball, baseball and softball, loved fishing with his dad, Red White, and loved his family and friends.

His survivors include his beloved, Sharon Kay White, one daughter, Michelle Kay (Jordan) Mullins; and three sons, Michael F. White II, Mark J. (Jasmine) White, and Matthew D. White. Also survived by six grandchildren, Joshua, Jada Kay Mullins, Drew and Dylan White, Ethan and Emerson White

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with pastor Butch Deer and Larry Franz officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery Veterans Section and visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Jessica Roach

Jessica Roach, adored daughter of parents Jim Roach and Julie Pace Kazee and stepparents Deborah Roach and David Kazee, love of Stephen Fisher, mother of Jesse Roach-Fisher and Katlyn Roach-Fisher, mother-in-law to Cory Mannon, memaw of Victoria and Cloud Roach-Fisher, sister of Isaiah Roach (wife Christina) and Joseph Pace, granddaughter of Margaret Hall-Smith, and friend to Traci Fields and Kelly Hutton, departed on her last and greatest journey March 31, 2015, to know and be known in God’s presence.

She cherished her family! Always willing to speak her piece and ready with her radiant smile, she looked for the good in everyone she met. She enjoyed cooking, camping and canoeing. She was a strong person and touched the lives of those dear to her.

Jessica attended Southwestern High School and graduated from Marshall University with a degree in hospitality and culinary arts.

There will be a memorial service from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the O.O McIntyre Park, State Route 775, Patriot, Ohio at the Bob White Shelter to remember her life with us and celebrate the one she begins.

Jerry Ellenberg

Jerry Gordon Ellenberg, 78, of Henderson, North Carolina, formerly of Chesapeake, died Monday, April 6, 2015, at Ridgewood Manor in Maumee. Garland Forbush

Garland Forbush, 70, of South Point, died Sunday, April 5, 2015, at his home. He was born Dec. 26, 1944, to the late Verna Reynolds Forbush and Elmer Forbush. He was a 1962 graduate of Rock Hill High School and a retired employee of A K Steel, Ashland.

Garland is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sellards Forbush, whom he married May 15, 1965; a son, Steven Forbush of Nashville, Tennesssee; a daughter, Tracy Dray of Huntington; a granddaughter, Stevie Collins; a grandson, Michael (Tabitha) Dray; four great grandchildren, Aden and Landon Collins, Rynleigh Fox and Gabriel Dray; two sisters, Pauline (Ralph) Webb of South Point and Erma (Rick) Caul of Colorado; two brothers, Charles (Cecilia) Forbush of Willow Wood and Donald (Carletta) Forbush of Kitts Hill.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Joan Harmon

Joan Carol Harmon, 60, of South Point, passed away April 6, 2015, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland. Joan was born May 12, 1954, in Logan, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Okey Harmon and Geraldine Clay Nagy.

She is survived by her sister, Terri Spitzcaufsky of Maryland; and William Nagy of Chesapeake. Graveside services will be noon Thursday at Highland Memory Gardens, Godby, West Virginia. Dorothy Marie Simmons Christian, 82 of Chesapeake, died Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Heartland of Riverview, South Point.
