SOUTH POINT — The Lawrence Economic Development Corporation will welcome the latest addition to The Point industrial park when it hosts an official dedication of a Bimbo Bakeries USA distribution center.
“The public is invited and will get to see the building,” Dr. Bill Dingus, executive director of the LEDC, said.
The open house will start at noon on Saturday, April 11.
Completion of the 43,000-square-foot building with 33 truck docks was completed in March by crews from Mullins Construction of Wheelersburg.
Finished bakery items will be trucked into the center and sent out to stores. Bimbo products include Bomboli pizza crusts, Arnold and Brownberry breads, Entemann’s pastries and Sara Lee breads.
“This is a full distribution facility with a lot of high-end technology,” Dingus said. “It has really got the cutting edge of items for distribution and materials. It is a very significant building and a real boost.”
The building is the 15th company to become a part of The Point.
