BURLINGTON — Those who use the Burlington Commons Park have been aware that for some time drugs were encroaching on the haven the community has created on the banks of the Ohio River.
When two uncapped needles were found at the commons last week, they knew the problem was hitting home.
That is why the Concerned Citizens of Burlington have scheduled a fish fry for Monday as a fundraiser to help pay for security cameras to set up at the park to provide extra protection for the area.
So far the volunteer organization that takes care of the park along with the Fayette Township Trustees has raised $2,000 that will go toward a goal of $6,000 for the cameras.
The fish fry, which will offer fish, bread, baked beans, cole slaw, dessert and a drink, will be from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday at 191 Township Road 1067.
Delivery is also available by calling 740-547-6395.
