Lawrence County Engineer Doug Cade has taken a job as deputy engineer in Hancock County, whose county seat is Findlay, the location of the headquarters of Marathon Oil.
“It is a good opportunity,” Cade said. “Ruth has always made the sacrifice. It is a great opportunity for our family.”
Cade’s wife, Ruth, is an environmental engineer for Marathon.
“The bottom line is Ruth technically works out of Findlay and it is a good opportunity for her to move up in her company,” he said. “This was the best fit for me and my family.”
The Cades are parents of Jon, 13, and Grace, 4.
Cade was appointed county engineer in February 2011 upon the retirement of then county engineer David Lynd.
“Naturally, this is always home and I will miss a lot of people,” he said. “But this is a great opportunity and great opportunity to share my experience with another community in Ohio to help it grow and prosper.”
Cade expects to start his new post by the end of May.
