A Proctorville area man has been arrested following a rash of breaking and entering incidents in the Rome and Chesapeake area.
Bryan K. Shaffer, 44, of 166 Township Road 1212 Proctorville was arrested by Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies and faces six counts of breaking and entering, two counts of tampering with evidence, and one count of grand theft.
“Suspect Shaffer did confess to committing a majority of these B&Es,” according to a release from the sheriff’s office. “Suspect Shaffer’s method of operation was to break out the front glass of the business, enter and then take cash or other small items of value that he could profit from quickly. It is believed that Shaffer committed these crimes to support a drug habit.”
Among the businesses are Rome Tire & Brake, Hamilton Chevrolet, Carey Chiropractic, C&R Nail and Hair Salon, Chesapeake Krispy Chicken, Legacy Dental Center and Iron Valley Landfill.
Shaffer is in the Lawrence County Jail and will be arraigned on Friday at the Lawrence County Municipal Court.
