Mary Van Meter

Mary Frances Tackett Van Meter, 61, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2015. The Detroit, Michigan, native was born May 26, 1953, a daughter of the late Alfred Tackett.

Mary graduated from Hearts of Mary High School in Chicago, and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in social science from Ohio University. She was of the Catholic faith and loved to do crafts and bake with her grandsons. Mary adored her friends and loved playing bingo with her bingo family.

Mary is survived by daughter, Nikki (Donnie) Stapleton, of Ironton; grandson, Donnie Stapleton III; grandson, Thomas Stapleton; and granddaughter, Savanna Summers.

I thought of you today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday and days before that too. I think of you in silence. I often speak your name. All I have are memories and a picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake, from which I’ll never part. God has you in his arms, I have you in my heart. Love, Nikki

Jimmy Kelley

Jimmy C. Kelley, 57, of Franklin Furnace, died on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. He was born Oct. 30, 1957, a son of the late Joseph L. and Betty Lawson Kelley. He was preceded by his first wife , Tana Massie Kelley; and one brother. Greg Kelley. He was a self-employed mechanic. Survivors include one sister, Vickie (Chris) Ailstock, of South Point; three nieces, Erica Ailstock of Cleveland, Nichole (Adam) Holt of Portsmouth and Tara Skaggs of Ashland; and several great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10 a.m-noon today. Funeral will be at noon today with Father David Huffman officiating at O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home. Burial will be in Junior Furnace Cemetery.

Terry Alan Boster, 60, of Coal Grove, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Ironton. Private family services will be held. There will be no visitation. Sarah Maxine Edwards, 94, of Piquot Lakes, Minnesota, formerly of Chesapeake and Proctorville, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Chesapeake United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Visitation is one hour prior to the service.
