Mary Van Meter

Mary Frances Tackett Van Meter, 61, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2015. The Detroit, Michigan, native was born May 26, 1953, a daughter of the late Alfred Tackett.

Mary graduated from Hearts of Mary High School in Chicago, and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in social science from Ohio University. She was of the Catholic faith and loved to do crafts and bake with her grandsons. Mary adored her friends and loved playing bingo with her bingo family.

Mary is survived by daughter, Nikki (Donnie) Stapleton, of Ironton; grandson, Donnie Stapleton III; grandson, Thomas Stapleton; and granddaughter, Savanna Summers.

I thought of you today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday and days before that too. I think of you in silence. I often speak your name. Jimmy Kelley

Jimmy C. Kelley, 57, of Franklin Furnace, died on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. He was born Oct. 30, 1957, a son of the late Joseph L. and Betty Lawson Kelley. He was preceded by his first wife , Tana Massie Kelley; and one brother. Greg Kelley. He was a self-employed mechanic. Survivors include one sister, Vickie (Chris) Ailstock, of South Point; three nieces, Erica Ailstock of Cleveland, Nichole (Adam) Holt of Portsmouth and Tara Skaggs of Ashland; and several great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10 a.m-noon today. Funeral will be at noon today with Father David Huffman officiating at O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home. Burial will be in Junior Furnace Cemetery.

 

 

Terry Boster

Terry Alan Boster, 60, of Coal Grove, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Ironton. Private family services will be held. There will be no visitation. Kenneth Bradley

Kenneth George Bradley, 85, of Huntington, husband of Donna Bradley, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at River’s Bend Health Care Center, South Point. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Proctorville, with pastor Eddie Salmons officiating. There will be no visitation. Sarah Edwards

Sarah Maxine Edwards, 94, of Piquot Lakes, Minnesota, formerly of Chesapeake and Proctorville, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Chesapeake United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Slack and Wallace in South Point is in charge of arrangements.

 

 

Glen McCloud

Glen E. McCloud, 81, of Proctorville, husband of Donna McCloud, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at Heartland of Riverview, South Point.

Clarence Shields

Clarence Edmund Shields, 90, of Proctorville, husband of Cherry Faye Shield, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at home. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville with VFW Post 6878 conducting military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
