PEDRO — The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers decided to act like a camera and focus on their subject.

The Lady Tigers used a swarming defense to beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 62-22 on Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“We were focused. We were really locked in,” said Ironton coach Doug Graham.

“Defensively, we played really well. We limited them to one shot and we were really aggressive. I also liked the fact we boxed out well on the boards.”

Lexie Barrier scored 17 points as four Lady Tigers reached double figures.

Sydney Webb, Jordan Hannan and Lexi Wise all scored 11 points each for Ironton (10-4, 8-1).

“We had a great offense. We moved the ball well and had balanced scoring,” said Graham.

“It’s always a concern anytime you go on the road. You know teams play well at home and you never know how focused your team will be. We were definitely focused.”

Rock Hill (5-10, 2-6) was led by Jill Hairston with 5 points.

Hannan scored 5 points in the first quarter as Ironton took an 18-6 lead.

Barrier had 5 points in the second quarter and the Lady Tigers held Rock Hill to just two points and it was 34-8 at the break.

Barrier had 6 more points in the third quarter as the lead went to 40-19 and Graham began to empty his bench.

On Monday, Ironton hosts Chillicothe and Rock Hill visits Symmes Valley in non-league games.
