Wants to team up with Backpack Buddies

Andrew Medinger, 10, class president of the Rock Hill Elementary School’s fourth-grade class, started his own project to help those in need this Christmas. That was a hat and mitten tree in the hallway of the school.

“I’m not going be a president who does nothing,” Medinger said when he was elected class president.

That’s when he put together a hat and mitten drive to help fellow Rock Hill students this winter stay warm.

The drive started just after Thanksgiving with more than 390 hats and gloves collected with plans of combining his drive with the Backpack Buddies organization. Medinger indicated he would like to start a food drive as his next project.
