Roy Stumbo

July 22, 1939 — Dec. 7, 2014

 

Roy Levon Stumbo, 75, of Willow Wood, passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at the St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus. The Lawrence County native was born July 22, 1939, a son of the late Roy E. and Violet McGuire Stumbo.

Mr. Stumbo attended Waterloo School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center, where he was a supervisor. He was a former pastor for the Palestine United Baptist Church in Scottown, where he was also a member. He was a member of the DAV, VFW, a former barber and loved fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Karla Kelley Stumbo; and second wife, Doris McComas Stumbo.

He is survived by two daughters, Debra K. (Alvin) Stumbo Carpenter, of Pedro, and Tamra D. (Robert) Stumbo Tredway, of Willow Wood; a son, Roger L. (Michelle) Stumbo, of Scottown; a brother, Loren Stumbo, of Gallipolis; three sisters, Rose Mannon, of Willow Wood, Betty (Richard) Thomas, of Scottown, and Carol (Roger) Glassburn, of Bidwell; seven grandchildren, Ryan Carpenter, Trent Carpenter, Stephanie Ross, Shelley Callicoat, Brad Carpenter, Carrie Clary and Leah Stumbo; and 13 great-grandchildren, Sierra Ross, Ericca Ross, Levi Ross, Tucker Ross, Isabelle Carpenter, Tayden Carpenter, Jocelyn Carpenter, Teegan Carpenter, Bronx Carpenter, Emzy Carpenter, Remee Carpenter, Dafney Clary and Wyatt Clary.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor Charles Turley and his grandson, pastor Trent Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery and visitation will 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Kimberly Insco

Kimberly Lea Insco, 42, of Chesapeake, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park in Huntington.
