South Point couple investigated by drug task force admit crimes

A South Point couple arrested on drug charges pleaded guilty Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.
John H. Dameron, 73, of 51 Township Road 510N, admitted to two first-degree counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs (oxycodone and morphine sulfate), two third-degree counts of trafficking (oxycodone) and a second-degree count of trafficking (oxycodone).
Doris Dameron, 64, of the same address, pleaded guilty to a third-degree count of complicity to trafficking in drugs. Another of the same charge, as well as two first-degree aggravated counts of trafficking in drugs, were dismissed.
Judge Charles Cooper sentenced John Dameron to a total of six years in prison, $37,500 in fines and a 15-year driver’s license suspension.
Sentencing for Doris Dameron will be Oct. 22 following a presentence investigation.
The couple was arrested in June following an investigation by the Lawrence Drug and Major Crimes Task Force.
In other cases:
• Helen Shortridge, 56, of 38 Private Drive 14870, Proctorville, pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree count of possession of drugs. Cooper ordered a PSI and set sentencing for Oct. 29.
• Steven Derek Vance, 31, of 119 Blackburn Ave., Ashland, Kentucky, who previously pleaded guilty to a count of fifth-degree forgery, was sentenced to four years community control sanctions under intensive supervised probation.
• Chester Stamper Jr., 54, of 111 N. Seventh St. Apt. 7, Ironton, who previously pleaded guilty to three counts of fifth-degree possession of drugs, was sentenced to four years CCS/ISP, STAR, a $1,250 fine and a six-month driver’s license suspension.
• Aaron Fields, 25, of 104 Remy St., Coal Grove, admitted CCS violations and was sentenced to seven months in prison.
• Charles Cordle, 56, of 601 Gartrell St., Ashland, who previously pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree count of possession of drugs, was sentenced to four years CCS/ISP, a $1,250 fine and a six-month driver’s license suspension.
