SOUTH POINT — There are plenty of rummage sales happening in the Tri-State each weekend, but Cross Community Church (C3) in South Point is hosting one this Saturday that’s somewhat different.
C3 will have rummage sales, but without the sales; everything is completely free. Clothes, toys, baby items, furniture and appliances will be available. There will be inflatables for children and free lunch.
The giveaways will happen 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. beside Country Hearth Inn on U.S. 52 in South Point and at the Ninth Street Park in Ironton.
“This will be the eighth year in a row we’ve done this giveaway” C3’s lead pastor, Trent Carpenter, said. “It was the first outreach project our church did when we started and it really set the tone for us to always be looking for opportunities to serve our community and show people that God cares about them with no strings attached.”
In addition to the giveaway, C3 will also launch a second campus this weekend. The church currently meets for two identical services at 9 and 10:15 a.m. in its building that opened this past March in South Point. C3 will add a third identical service at 11:15 a.m. in Ironton this Sunday in the Bowman Auditorium at Ohio University Southern.
“Since we began seven years ago, our church has always been a place that accepts people wherever they are, but cares too much about them to let them stay there,” Jimmy Lemon, pastor at C3, said. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to take what God has done in our church here in South Point and build on that in Ironton.”
C3 is a contemporary church with a casual and welcoming atmosphere that strives to offer music and messages from the Bible that are relevant to people’s everyday lives.
