William Musgrave

William T. Musgrave, 89, of Willow Wood, passed away Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at the Emogene Dolin Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. The South Point native was born Nov. 3, 1924, a son of the late Ervin Milton and Orpha Hall Musgrave. His wife, Erma Jean Brumfield Musgrave, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Musgrave was a graduate of Cheshire High School and a former custodian at the Lawrence County Joint Vocational School for 11 years, retiring in 1988. He was a very active member of the Highway Baptist Church in Aid. He enjoyed reading the Bible and farmed most of his life.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Beulah “Boots” Musgrave Hern; and two brothers-in-law, Charles Hern and Don Johnson.

He is survived by three sons, John (Carla) Musgrave, of South Point, Daniel (Brenda) Musgrave, of Cheshire, and Harry (Cheri) Musgrave, of Chesapeake; a sister, Wilma “Wim” Musgrave Johnson, of Englewood, Fla.; five grandchildren Robert E. (Kristen) Allen Jr., Jennifer (Ian) Halliday, Danielle Jones, Sarah Musgrave and Derek Musgrave; four great-grandchildren; and two nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton with the Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Myrtle Ridge Cemetery and visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Deborah Gillespie

Deborah E. Gillespie, 62, of Florence, Ariz., died Aug. 9, 2014, at Gilbert Mercy Hospital in Gilbert, Ariz. She was the widow of Danny Gillespie of Almont, Mich.

She was born in Ironton, on Nov. 16, 1951, the daughter of the late Helen Creger Barber and the late Cecil Barber, of Wurtland, Ky.

Preceding her was a sister, Peggy Creger Evans, of Warsaw, Ind.

Survivors include Kay Creger Scherer, of Florence, Ariz.; Mary Ann Smith, of Newport, Mich.; Helen Louise Creger Malburg, of Sun Tan Valley, Ariz.; Roy and Elpha Creger, of Jacksonville, Fla.; Richard Creger, of Humble, Texas; Gary and Bonita Creger, of Coal Grove; Brenda Barber Rutledge, of Florence, Ariz.; Mike Barber, of Deering; and lots of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Debbie chose to donate her body to Science Care for research. Memorial services are planned for Sept. 28, 2014, in Florence, Ariz.

 

 

Donna Joseph

Donna Gail Joseph, 75, of Pedro passed away Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at a local health care facility.  The Lawrence County native was born Sept. 1, 1938, a daughter to the late Elroy and Mable Krumm DePriest.  She is survived by her husband Ralph F. Joseph, whom she married May 1, 1960.

Mrs. Joseph was a graduate of Pedro High School.  She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother; two sisters,  Freda DePriest and Frances Heighton; and a brother, John Elroy DePriest.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter, Brenda Kay (Paul) Mullins of Ironton; son,  Ralph Lee Joseph of Wheelersburg; four grandchildren,  Jessica Renee Joseph, Laura Kay (Derek) Bazell, Joshua Lee (Meagan) Joseph and Jonathan Michael Joseph; and two great-grandchildren,  Hadley Bazell and Harper Bazell.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor Kenny Ruggles officiating. Burial will follow in Puckett Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers for the service will be Paul Mullins, Ralph L. Samuel Smith

Samuel Lewis Smith, 47, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today at First Pentecostal Church of Flatwoods by pastor Shane Cox. Louise Stephens

Louise Stephens, 89, of Chesapeake, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at home. Arrangement are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville.

 

 

Danny Salyers
