The Ironton Farmers Market will open on Thursday this week and celebrate Independence Day on Saturday with a concert.
From 11 a.m.-1 p.m. the County Road 6 Band will perform. The market vendors will offer their normal produce, baked goods and homemade products as usual from 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
“Bring a lawn chair, shop the market and enjoy a live concert,” Sam Heighton, market manager, said. “Due to the Friday holiday the market will be open on Thursday at the regular time for your shopping convenience.”
Customers can purchase fresh produce, homegrown products and freshly baked goods.
“The market has been growing each week and we’re expecting an overflowing venue the rest of the season,” Heighton said. “Ironton is a very special place. Whether you come on Thursday, Friday or Saturday you’ll find the same market products and friendly experience everyone has learned to expect.”
The Ohio University Southern Art Collaborative will be at the market again on Saturday.
“Take home an art masterpiece,” Heighton said. “This is the art collaborative’s third week at the market and the kids love it.”
Farmers bringing produce to the market this week for the first time this season should call Heighton at 740-533-7951 to reserve a space even if already registered as a vendor.
The Ironton Farmers Market is located at 220 S. Second St. at the train depot area in downtown Ironton; it is sponsored by Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
