Makeovers fun for all

There is a saying that “if you look good, you’ll feel good.” At Sunset Nursing Center that saying was put to the test last week.
The female residents at the center were able to get their hair, makeup and nails done during makeovers offered by the center’s activities director Tina Baldwin.
“I thought this would be something they would really enjoy,” Baldwin said. “It just takes them back. Back to when they were more independent and doing things on their own and it helps them feel young and beautiful again.”
This was the first time the makeovers were done at Sunset but Baldwin is hopeful that they will become a regular occurrence.
“All the ladies loved it,” Baldwin said. “So I would really like to start doing this once a week or at least once a month. It’s a big deal to them because it gives them a chance to be pampered a little bit and every woman loves to be pampered.”
Baldwin enjoyed giving the makeovers as much as the residents enjoyed being made over. It was once Baldwin’s childhood dream to go to Hollywood and be a professional makeup artist.
“I love doing this,” she said. “This is what I wanted to do when I was a little girl. I said I would go out to Hollywood and do hair and makeup for movie stars and celebrities. So this is fun for me too.”
