It has been a busy month for students at Collins Career Center. Last week students from the school won awards in the Ohio Future Farmers of America Management Career Development competition and the state FFA Equine Finals.
This week eight more students from the school received recognition by the Ohio FFA Conviction in the form of its most prestigious award.
“The students received the FFA State Degree,” Randy Reed, agriculture teacher at CCC, said. “This is the highest honor awarded to an FFA member at the state level. It is also the highest ever number of students receiving the state degree from the career center.”
To be eligible to receive the FFA State Degree students have to excel not just academically but as a leader as well.
“A member must complete the leadership activates, care development competitions, and complete a supervised experience in agriculture,” Reed said.
The students who received the honor were Kaila Baldwin, Cora Hughes, Katie Fife, Keith Edmonds, Kristin Campbell, Brandon Burcham, Charly Earl and Gabrielle Shell.
