Henson one-hits Raiders

BIDWELL — Jacob Henson was thisclose to a no-hitter.
Henson gave up a one-out single to Cody Lee — a ground ball into the hole at shortstop — with one out in the seventh inning and settled for a one-hitter as the Chesapeake Panthers blanked the River Valley Raiders 6-0 Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
Henson struck out 13 and walked four as he got the win in the Panthers’ final game of the season. Chesapeake finished 12-15 overall and 6-4 in the OVC.
The Panthers had 10 hits with Joe Bias going 3-4 and Blake Lester 2-3 with two doubles.
Chesapeake scored a run with two outs in the first inning when Lester doubled and Bias singled.
Jacob Eddy singed, moved up on two groundouts and scored on a wild pitch in the second inning and it was 2-0.
Bias doubled and Dakota Hutchison singled with two outs in the third for a 3-0 lead.
The Panthers went up 5-0 in the fourth inning.
Austin Stone walked, Bobby Arthur and Casey McComas both singled, and Henson reached on an error as a run scored. Lester walked to force in Arthur.
The final run scored the sixth when Lester had a two-out double, went to third on a hit by Bias and scored on a passed ball.
