GETAWAY — The Getaway Community Church’s spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Brenda Webb has had a change of locations.
Originally, the dinner was going to be held at the church but now Collins Career Center will be the site of the benefit dinner.
“We were offered Collins Career Center for that day,” said Justin Berry, pastor of the Getaway Community Church. “Having it at Collins will work better.”
Berry says having the event at CCC will offer more room, and will make parking safer in the event of inclement weather.
“Our church parking lot is sloped,” Berry said. “So, if we have snow or cold temperatures we could have some problems.”
The dinner will be on March 1 from noon to 5 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are $5, which includes salad, a plate of spaghetti, dessert and a drink. Proceeds from the event will go to Webb, a member of the church who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia.
“She is a great reflection of what Christ looks like,” Berry said. “I brought the idea up to our youth group and the kids were more than on board to help out someone like Webb, who has helped us so much.”
