Nina Sisler

April 2, 1948-July 17, 2013

Nina Mae Hargis Sisler, 65, of Lexington, Ky., formerly of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at her home.

She was born April 2, 1948, daughter of the late John Hargis and Lillian Miller Hargis of Huntington, W.Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Sisler. She was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and office manager of Ashland Child Development Center for 18 years.   She was a member of the Iron City Antique Auto Club.

Visitation was from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday at the Neal Funeral Home on Center Street in Catlettsburg, followed by a graveside service at 12:30 p.m. at Woodland Cemetery, Ironton. Pastor Eddie Hay will officiated.

Hattie E. Poplin

May 24, 1938-July 19, 2013

Hattie Elizabeth Poplin, 75, of Wheelersburg, formerly of Franklin Furnace, died Friday, July 19, 2013, at Best Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wheelersburg.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. today at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with Pastor Richard Thomas officiating.   Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace.  Friends may call at the funeral home an hour prior to the service on today.

 

Roberta Neal

July 3, 1950-July 16, 2013

Roberta “Bobbie” Heaberling Neal, 63,of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born July 3, 1950, the daughter of the late Mildred McCollister and Donald Heaberling. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Maurice W. Neal, and daughter, Lori Lynn Neal.

She attended Rock Hill High School. She was a homemaker and mom to Lisa Smith, Denise Nutter and Dennis Neal, all of Georgia, Darryl Neal of Alabama, and Darla May of Texas. Also surviving are sisters, Rebecca Layden of Flatwoods, Ky., Elizabeth Mosley of Clayton, Ind., and Mary Palmer of Haverhill, and other survivors include grandchildren and great grandchildren, niece and nephews, great nieces and nephews, special nieces including Heather Meyer of Ironton and special nephews including Mark Meyer of Ironton and David Boles of Clayton.

Family graveside services were Saturday in Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point with the Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Phillips Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

Erin Grant

Erin Nichole Grant, 38, of Russell, Ky., died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at home. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Preston Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Pridemore. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time.

 

Joan Wylie

Oct. 20, 1928-July 19, 2013

Joan (Marie) Wylie, 84, of Ironton, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013 ,at Jo-Lin Health Center. She was born Oct. 20, 1928, in Ironton the daughter of the late Robert and Genevieve (Abel) Brownstead. She is survived by her husband of 64 years James P. “Jay” Wylie whom she married in 1948.

Joan was a 1941 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School, Ashland, Ky. She was a homemaker and worked with her husband in his business endeavors. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ironton and she was very active with her beloved children, grandchildren and great-children.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by one brother Thomas Brownstead.

In addition to her husband Joan is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Wayne) Price of Ironton; three sons, J. Paul (Glenna) Wylie of Ashland, Robert G. (Connie) Wylie of Ironton and Scott (Teresa) Wylie of Ironton; 10 grandchildren, J.D. Cyrus, Josh Bator, Chris Bator, Ryan Wylie, Jeremy Williams, Cary Williams, Travis Wylie, Todd Wylie Rachael Maddy and Katie Bias; 13 great grandchildren, Kia, Chandler, Brycen, Avah, Emma, Elli, Evan, Jase, Jonas, Kylie, Olivia, Jonathan and Mara; two brothers: Robert (Helene) Brownstead of Syracuse N.Y. and John Bill Brownstead of Barboursville, W.Va.; and one sister, Mary Jane (Jim) Bator of Houston, Texas.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Pastors Steve Harvey and Eric Barnes officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesday.

Paul-bearers will be the grandsons.

William Broyles, 83, of Maitland, Fla., formerly of La Follette, Tenn., died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, in Raceland, Ky. A memorial service is at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Walters Funeral Home in Lafollette, Tenn.
