Bond has been set for two South Point men arrested Tuesday in connection with an alleged active meth lab.

Eric Roach 35, of 1529 County Road 1, South Point, and Mark Wiley II, 30, of 60 Township Road 616, South Point, were arraigned Friday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety for each defendant. Attorneys Philip Heald and J.T. Holt were appointed, respectively.

Roach and Wiley will return to court April 19 for preliminary hearings to see if there is enough evidence to send the cases to a grand jury.

The two men were arrested Tuesday after the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office got an anonymous tip of alleged drug activity at Wiley’s home in South Point.

The deputy dispatched to the scene called for assistance after speaking with the resident and two other individuals and allegedly witnessing signs of meth activity.

The Lawrence County Drug and Major Crimes Task Force was working in the area and assisted the sheriff’s office, according to a LCSO release.

A subject fled on foot from the residence. Deputies and task force agents searched the area; however he was not located. A warrant was issued for the suspect’s arrest.

The Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department was called to assist, due to the chemical reactions allegedly occurring in the cooking potentially igniting.

The sheriff’s office contacted drug task force deputies with the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office to assist in processing the scene.
