Henry Miller

Henry Miller, 91, of South Point, formerly of Waterloo, passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born July 17, 1921, the son of the late Eaf and Anna Davis Miller. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Massie Miller.

Henry was a graduate of Waterloo High School and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was co-owner/co-operator of the Miller and Miller Pallet Company and a truck driver for the Ohio Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Waterloo Post, the VFW Post 8850 and the VFW Post in Waterloo. He was a Symmes Township trustee for 28 years, a member of the Democratic Central Committee for six years and was appointed on the Democratic Executive Committee.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Arnold Miller; brothers and sisters, Elizabeth and Everett Evans, Opal and Jack Carleton, John and Mary Miller, Jack and Geraldine Miller, Bob and Edna Miller, George Miller, Ronnie and Ruby Miller and Joann Miller.

He is survived by two daughters, Connie and Larry Massie of South Point and Terri and Doug Higgins of Willow Wood; two sisters, Patty and Wallace Clark of Westerville and Lois and Edward Riebel of Columbus; granddaughters, Darcie and Jeremy Williams of South Point and Marissa and Ramsey Wilson of Willow Wood; grandson, Jacob Browning of South Point; sister-in-law, Maggie Miller Davis of Ironton; and five great grandchildren, Emma, Elli, Evan, Jade Williams, and Claire Wilson.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan McKee officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

 

Shelby Keiser

Shelby Ann Keiser, 4-month-old infant, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Feb.16, 2013 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus. She was born Sept. 20, 2012, the daughter of Patrick Keiser and Lee Ann Sparks of Ironton.

Shelby was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Rick Sparks and paternal grandparents, Dallas “Pat” and Ruth Ann Keiser.

In addition to her parents she is survived by her maternal grandmother, Marlene Sparks and Jim McClaskey of Pedro; an aunt, Tammy Nutter of Coal Grove and several great aunts, great uncles and cousins.

Gladys Keeney

Gladys Irene Keeney, 101, of South Point went to be with her Lord, Monday, Feb. 18, 2013 at her residence. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point with Pastor Kenneth Klaiber officiating.

Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. Gladys was born March 7, 1911 in Lawrence County, a daughter of the late Miller and Blanche Freeman Gibson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur D. Keeney; a son, Wilbur R. Keeney and four brothers, Howard, Frank, Harold and Carl Gibson. She was a member of Leatherwood Missionary Baptist Church. Gladys is survived by three children, Glenna Singleton of South Point, Pauline Born of Obetz and Jimmie (Candy) Keeney of Columbus; two sisters, Olive Brammer and Betty Knipp both of Ironton; one brother, Bill Gibson of South Point; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.

Fred Whitley

Fred Calvin Whitley, 84, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.

 

 

Mary Kay

Mary A. Kay, 79, of Chesapeake, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Heartland of Riverview. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Anita Perkey

Anita Perkey, 51, of Ironton, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at her residence.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Reger Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Tyree. Burial will follow at the Blankenship family Cemetery, Wayne, WV. Davis Malone

Davis Eugene Malone, 82, of Catlettsburg, Ky., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. The Lawrence County native was born Aug. 11, 1930, a son to the late Floyd and Virginia (Rucker) Malone. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Blanche Malone, whom he married Dec. 16, 1972.

Mr. Malone was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was owner and operator of the Marting Hotel in Ironton and other various establishments in Ironton. He was a member of the Catlettsburg Church of the Nazarene in Catlettsburg, KY.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two infant children; a brother, Kenneth Malone; and a brother-in-law, David Willis.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Davis L. Malone Jr. of Winter Haven, Fla. and Eric Boyd of Kitts Hill; four daughters and a son-in-law, Denise and Scott Price of Winter Haven, Jackie Hall of Ashland, Ky., Paula Visconti of Philadelphia, Pa., and Tracy Boyd of Catlettsburg, Ky.; a grandson who is currently serving in the U.S. Navy: Robert Ryan and Jen Wylie of Jacksonville, Fla.; a granddaughter, Emily Malone of Bradenton, Fla.; a grandson, Cody Sheridan of Catlettsburg; two great grandchildren, Kia and Chandler Wylie of Jacksonville; six additional grandchildren; six additional great grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law. Ruth Ann Willis of Kingswood, Texas and Mary Ellen and Gary Nichols of Coal Grove.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor James Webster officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. At the family’s request, donations can be made to the building fund of Catlettsburg Church of the Nazarene. Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post #93 of Kenova, WV.

Virgil Burnette

Virgil “Fred” Burnette, 71, of Madisonville, Tenn., formerly of Lawrence County, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Sweetwater Hospital in Sweetwater, Tenn. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Burnette. Arrangements are pending at Bierely-Hale Funeral Home in Madisonville, Tenn.

 

 

Eloise Judd

Eloise Kaiser Judd, 95, of Hollywood, Fla., formerly of Athalia, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Vistas Innovative Hospice Care in Pembroke Pines, Fla. A gravesite service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Miller Cemetery in Miller. Visitation is set for 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville.

 

 

David Spradlin

David Ray Spradlin, 57 of Ironton, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at the King’s Daughters Medical Center. Arrangements are pending at Brown Funeral Chapel.
