Rev. David Hackworth

Rev. David Hackworth, 61, of Ironton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday Nov. 16, 2012, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky., with his loving family at his side. David was born July 21, 1951, in Ironton. He was the son of the late John Lester and Marjorie Magdelene (Doolin) Hackworth. He is survived by his wife Delores (Cade) Hackworth.

David was a 1970 graduate of Rock Hill High School and was retired from Lowe’s of Wheelersburg. He was a Freewill Baptist minister and was blessed to have pastored Dogwood Ridge Freewill Baptist Church in Wheelersburg and Brookdale Freewill Baptist Church in South Point. David preached through out Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia, he truly enjoyed his salvation and loved serving the Lord.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Minnie Keeton; paternal grandparents, John Wesley and Emma (Vittito) Hackworth; an infant daughter, Jennifer DeAnn Hackworth; brothers-in-law, Lenorard Moore of Coal Grove, Donald Friend Sr. of Pedro and Glendon “Bud” Cade Jr.; sisters-in-law, Freda Matthews of Marysville and Debra Russell of Ironton; father and mother-in-law, Glendon and Zona (McCormick) Cade of Pedro; nephew, Freddie Moore of Coal Grove; and niece, Fonda Friend of Pedro.

He was survived and blessed to be the father of two wonderful children; a daughter, Lindsey Sue Hackworth; and a son, Matthew David Hackworth, both of Ironton, whom he was so proud of; sisters, Connie Moore of Coal Grove, Faye (Harold) Woodrum of Conover, Phyllis Friend of Pedro, and Carol (Jerry) Freeman of South Point; brothers, Johnny (Brenda) Hackworth of Ironton, and Kenny (Kay) Hackworth of Christianburg; four brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, at Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. George Cade and the Rev. Steve Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in Mamre Cemetry. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, and Tuesday from noon until the time of the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Hackworth, Erik Stevens, Darren Hackworth, Kenny Hackworth, Shane Moore, Donald Friend Jr. and Jeff McCormick. Katherine Waller

Katherine Waller, 86, of Ironton, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Oscar Brown and Verna Mae Urban, born Dec. 12, 1925, in Ashland, Ky. She was the widow of Charles Waller.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Johnson. She was a homemaker and is survived by two sons, Carl Eddie Waller of Belpre and Charles Jeffery and Christy Waller of South Point; one daughter, Melinda Kay Waller of Ironton; grandchildren, Jeffery Allen and Kristen Waller, Brandon Nicholas Waller, William Shawn Waller, Brittany Waller, John Robert Carey; great-grandchildren, Noah Cary, Grayson Carey, Jackson Waller, Jacob Waller; one sister, Juanita Ward of Fort Meyers, Fla.; and three brothers, William (Bill) Brown of Ashland, Ky., Frank Brown of Cincinnati, and Mike Brown of Indiana.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point.

 

 

Rose Gordos

Rose Marie Gordos, 80, of Middletown, formerly of South Point, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, in Atrium Medical Center in Franklin. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with Father Charles Moran officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery. Ruby Lundy

Ruby A. Bias Lundy, 76, of Huntington, W.Va., died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be noon Tuesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with pastors Duane Smith and Jerry Galloway officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford Cemetery, Sybene. Carol Sue Hall, 74, of South Point, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Community Hospice Care Center, in Ashland, Ky. She is survived by her husband, Glen R. Hall.
