Run By The River races
scheduled for Saturday
The 35th annual Kiwanis Club of East Greenup County’s Run By The Rive 5K or 10K run along with the 5K or 10K walk will be held Saturday in downtown Russell, Ky.
The race begins at 8:30 a.m. Registration will be held prior to the race. Entry fee is $20 and $15 for anyone 14 and under.
The race course is virtually flat on blacktopped streets starting in downtown Russell. Runners travel underneath the Ironton-Russell Bridge and then along the Ohio River road through Worthington and back.
Runners may choose either a 5K or 10K course, making it one of the few races in the Tri-State to offer this choice. A 5K or 10K fun walk is also offered.

K of C annual golf
scramble June 30
The Knights of Columbus annual golf scramble will be held on Saturday, June 30, at Diamond Links in Rush, Ky.
Shotgun start is 8:30 a.m. Food and drinks are provided. Entry fee is $50 per person.

Ron Carpenter Memorial
gofl tournament planned
The Ron Carpenter Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, June 16, at Diamond Links Golf Course.
Registration is 8 a.m. and tee off 9 a.m. Entry fee is $50 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, riding cart, lunch and chances at various prizes.
Among prizes to be awarded are longest putt, longest drive, closest to the pin and hole-in-one shootout.

Lady Tigers basketball
camp set June 11-14
The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ basketball camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon June 11-14 at the Sports Center for girls entering grades 3-9.
Camp fee is $20 and checks should be made payable to the Tiger Clan. Registration forms are available at all the city schools and Bob Linn Sporting Goods.
Each camper receives a T-shirt and a cold beverage each day. The camp stresses all types of fundamentals as well as academics and the mental aspects of the game. Games will be played on a daily basis and awards will be presented at the end of the camp.

Female Flyers basketball
camp set for June 25-27
The St. Joseph Female Flyers basketball camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the high school for girls entering grades 3-9.
Campers will receive equal time in drills and games. everyone receives Gatorade or water at breaks along with a camp T-shirt.
Fee is $20 and $10 for each additional family member. Forms are available in the high school or elementary school principal’s office. Mail payment and form to:

Vikings, Lady Vikings camps set June 11-13
The Symmes Valley boys’ and girls’ youth basketball camps will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on June 11-13 at the high school.
Fee is $25 per player and $15 for each additional sibling. All players instruction from the varsity coach, staff and players.

Rio Grande volleyball
tournament June 30
The University of Rio Grande volleyball team will host its second annual “Raining Talent” high school tournament on Saturday, June 30, in the Lynn Center on the campus.
Team entry fee is $250 (jayvee and/or varsity). Entry deadline is Friday, June 22.

Rio Grande volleyball
skills camp July 1-3
The University of Rio Grande volleyball team will host its volleyball skills camp Sunday-Tuesday, July 1-3, at the school for grades 6-12.

Dragons’ annual 5K Run
scheduled for June 30
The second annual 5K “Run for the Dragons” race will be held at Jim Mayo Stadium beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 30.
Online registration is on tristateracer.com and additional race day registration will be at 7:30 a.m.
Fee is $15 before June 15 and $20 the day of the race. The first 100 to register will receive a T-shirt. To guarantee size, please pre-register.
Awards will be given to top male and female finishers and the top three runners in seven age groups.

High School football
combine set for June 9
The second annual Tri-State Rehab high school football combine will be held Saturday, June 9, at Ironton High School.
The event begins at 9 a.m. and players will be tested in the 40-yard dash, bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, flexibility test, 3-cone drill and the L-drill.
Each player’s individual results will be recorded and distributed to colleges of their choice.
The combine is a simulation to those conducted by the NFL for rookies to test their performance levels prior to the draft. All drills are to test speed, strength, agility and flexibility.
Cost is $25 per athlete if registered by Wednesday, May 23. Late registration fee is $50 by Wednesday, May 30. Checks can be made payable to Tri-State Rehab Services and mailed to the firm at 711 South 3rd Street, Ironton, OH 4638.

OSU women’s clinic
planned for June 9
The Ohio State football women’s clinic will be held Saturday, June 9, at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
Fee is $75 in advance and $100 the day of the clinic. Funds from the clinic will be donated to the Stefanie Spielman Fund at the James Cancer Hospital.
Clinic day registration begins at 8 a.m and includes a picture with head football coach Urban Meyer.
Clinic begins at 9:30 a.m. Topics include offense, defense, special teams and equipment demonstration.
Other stations include tours, a relay race, shoulder pad races, stretch, Buckeye fun facts and “Buckeyes Got Talent.”
